The Case for Batman

Selected DC Story Examples

The two characters have fought in comics and on screen more than once, but the circumstances and outcomes vary by continuity. Two frequently discussed examples are The Dark Knight Returns (1986) and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016).

In Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns (1986), an older Batman confronts Superman using prepared terrain, armor, backup, and kryptonite. The scene gives Batman a tactical advantage, but it should be described as one specific interpretation rather than a universal result.
